Shame on Golden Boy and HBO

Yep, shame on Golden Boy Promotions and HBO for making last nights rematch between Juan Manuel Marquez and Juan Diaz a PPV. Here are just a few reasons;

1. They had a great fight in 2009, but the second half of the fight was dominated by Marquez and he left little doubt that he was the better fighter. It was a great fight, but I don't remember anyone calling for the rematch.

2. Diaz has basically lost two fights to Paulie Mangillinati since who then went on to lose very conviningly to Amir Khan. Why would he suddenly be able to beat Marquez. How would he improve on basically what amounts to a three fight losing streak.

3. The first fight was not a PPV.

4. There was really no drama between these two fighters. We were being sold on the fact that it was the fight of the year last year. It was a great fight, but lacked the drama and anticipation of Pacquio/Cotto, which had to be a close runner up.

5. I could have written the entire story that they posted on ESPN recapping the fight 2 weeks ago. Marquez dominates.

So, I don't mind the rematch, but any fool who paid for that should have had to pay double.

Until next time.
